June 2022: Structural Support
One Step at a Time
The crew is constructing a 600,000-square-foot facility, which will bring chemists, engineers, technicians and support teams together into a state-of-the-art innovation and development hub for future products and services.
Steel Structure
The steel structure provides important support for the R&D Center building. In total, the structure will contain approximately 875 tons of steel, equivalent to the weight of 125 elephants.
Concrete Slab
A second-story slab of concrete was poured in one of the building's wings, totaling 10,000 square feet. The longest lab wing in the R&D Center will be about the length of a football field.
Future Lab Wings
Construction on the new R&D Center is being executed wing by wing. Excavation in the area of the future lab wings occurred as other areas of the building rose from the ground.
Ground Improvement
In June 2022, the Building Our Future construction teams made progress on the new R&D Center. They made ground improvements to provide important support for the foundation of the building.
Careful Cuts
The safety of our workforce is a key focus area, and we are committed to sending every worker home safe each day. Crews wear personal protective gear and follow safety protocols for their jobs.
