As part of its ongoing commitment to the next generation of professionals, Sherwin-Williams is increasing its partnership with the Painting Contractors Association to create the PCA Apprenticeship Program. As a program sponsor, Sherwin-Williams support will enhance the organization's development, deployment and promotion of the program and its core competencies to prepare future workers in the painting industry.
“Over the past few years, we’ve heard from our customers and industry professionals about the need for help in continuing to grow their businesses through finding and retaining quality employees,” said Jeff Winter, vice president of residential marketing at Sherwin-Williams. “We are proud to contribute to the PCA Apprenticeship Program in order to further train the next generation of contractors and support their ongoing growth and success.”
The apprenticeship program will provide contractors with a clear, standardized and approachable training program that can be implemented by any contractor at zero cost. The program will support key areas for professional growth, including:
- Core competencies
- On-the-job training
- Certifications and credentials
- Classroom resources and instruction
"This extraordinary gift will help PCA continue to develop its standardized teaching and training curriculum,” said Gina Koert, PCA chair. “This program will leverage hours of video instruction, online learning and assessment tools."
The PCA Apprenticeship Program will roll out in March 2021 and help both member and non-member companies recruit and train new talent. Together with PCA, Sherwin-Williams support will raise the bar for technical performance and training within the industry.
