John G. Morikis

John G. Morikis is Executive Chairman of The Sherwin-Williams Company, a $23.05 billion global leader in the paint and coatings industry. He has served as Chairman since January 2017, serving as Executive Chairman since January 2024.
Mr. Morikis joined Sherwin-Williams in 1984 as a management trainee in the Paint Stores Group and is the first member of this program to become CEO. During his more than 39 years at the Company, Mr. Morikis has held positions of increasing responsibility including President and General Manager of the Paint Stores Group, Chief Operating Officer and, most recently, Chief Executive Officer.
In addition to serving as a member of The Sherwin-Williams Company Board of Directors, Mr. Morikis is a director of General Mills, Inc. Mr. Morikis also serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals Health System and is a member and former Chair of the Policy Advisory Board of the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University.
Mr. Morikis holds bachelor’s degrees in both Business Administration and Psychology from Saint Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Indiana, and a master’s degree in Business from National Louis University in Evanston, Illinois.
